The article discusses institutionalized gang rape by members of fraternities at the University of Virginia (UVA) going back at least 30 years and the way it is covered up by the UVA administration. Topics include studies on the prevalence of sexual assault, serial rapists, and rates of reporting; the role of schools' concern with prestige in preventing them from addressing sexual assault; and a discussion of the ways UVA attempted to block access to research for the article. |
