Abstract: |
The article from New Scientist discusses the possibility that habitable planets may have formed much earlier in the universe than previously thought. Researchers suggest that rocky planets with water could have developed just 200 million years after the big bang, before the formation of the first galaxies. The presence of oxygen and water in the early universe could have allowed for the creation of habitable worlds among the first generation of stars. However, the habitability of these early planets may depend on the presence of gas giants to limit impacts on rocky planets and shepherd waterbearing asteroids and comets.
