Abstract: Splashier still, his 2006 recreation of Marie Antoinette's signature perfume, sold in limited edition Baccarat bottles for nearly $9,000 each (as well as a series of Portieux Crystal bottles for $384), enabled Versailles to purchase the queen's traveling case and add it to its collections. L'Or de Louis, the newest from Arquiste, takes its orange blossom and cedar olfactory cue from the Sun King's orangery, where wood fires were built to keep citrus trees warm. Louis XIV called himself the Sun King but was nicknamed le doux fleurant (the sweet flowery one) due to his predilection for fragrance. [Extracted from the article]
