Abstract: The article discusses the research which explored extracurricular involvement among American high school seniors by clusters of organized and unstructured activities, and how these clusters relate to social class and other factors. Topics discussed include analysis of data from the Monitoring the Future (MTF) study that includes social media and other electronic device use, and the involvement of students in school clubs like athletic clubs/teams, performance arts and academic clubs.
