Claim: 1. A prepolymerized catalyst component for the polymerization of olefins comprising a solid catalyst component which comprises Mg, Ti, and halogen atoms and an electron donor (ID) selected from the alkyl esters of aromatic dicarboxylic acids in such an amount that the ID/Mg molar ratio ranges from 0.025 to 0.070 and the Mg/Ti molar ratio is higher than 13, said prepolymerized catalyst component containing an amount of ethylene polymer up to 50 g per g of said solid catalyst component.
Claim: 2. The prepolymerized catalyst component according to claim 1 wherein the ID/Mg molar ratio ranges from 0.030 to 0.060.
Claim: 3. The prepolymerized catalyst component according to claim 1 wherein the Mg/Ti molar ratio is higher than 14.
Claim: 4. The prepolymerized catalyst component according to claim 1 in which the amount of ethylene polymer ranges from 0.1 to 15 g per g of solid catalyst component.
Claim: 5. The prepolymerized catalyst component according to claim 1 having an apparent density ranging from 0.30 to 0.45 g/cm3.
Claim: 6. The prepolymerized catalyst component according to claim 1 in which the electron donor compound (ID) is selected from C1-C20 alkyl esters of phthalic acids.
Claim: 7. The prepolymerized catalyst component according to claim 1 wherein the Mg, Ti and halogen atoms derive from a titanium compound having at least a Ti-halogen bond and an Mg halide.
Claim: 8. A catalyst system for the polymerization of olefins CH2═CHR, in which R is hydrogen or a hydrocarbyl radical with 1-12 carbon atoms, comprising the product of the reaction between: (i) the prepolymerized solid catalyst component according to claim 1; (ii) an alkylaluminum compound; and optionally (iii) an external electron donor compound.
Claim: 9. A process comprising polymerizing olefins CH2═CHR, wherein R is hydrogen or a C1-C12 hydrocarbyl group, carried out in the presence of the catalyst system of claim 8.
