| More Details: | Sphingomonas paucimobilis is an emerging Gram-negative bacillus that has been reported in both healthy people and immunocompromised hosts. Various infections in humans have been described, including peritoneal dialysis (PD)-associated peritonitis although most have been limited to sporadic case reports. The clinical course and outcomes are variable with a high antibiotic resistance and unpredictable antibiotic sensitivity. Therefore, more data are warranted to clarify its treatment management. Here, we report a rare case of PD-associated peritonitis due to S. paucimobilis in a patient successfully treated with both intraperitoneal and intravenous antibiotics. |
