More Details: Iron metabolism is linked to type 2 diabetes. Here the authors describe a mechanism through which cellular iron deficiency caused by loss of Irp2 impairs Cdkal1 function, resulting in inaccurate proinsulin translation, impaired proinsulin processing and reduced insulin secretion.
