New therapeutics for diabetes offer benefits for glucose control, body mass, and cardiovascular health, but they may also worsen diabetic retinopathy in some patients. However, the safety data regarding vision loss are incomplete and/or unclear. Here, we review several new agents, with an emphasis on systemic efficacy and retinal safety. |
