Abstract: |
R&D achievements of a field-running all optical network were summarized. Optimized design scheme of optical add-drop multiplexing (OADM) and optical cross connect (OXC) were also presented. Network control & management (NC&M) issues including the design and implementation were studied. Various network performance metrics were evaluated. The performance test results as well as the fact of good running of the multi-media services show that all-optical network becomes one kind of ideal transport technologies for metropolitan backbone networks.
