| Abstract (English): |
The article analyzes the burden of disease attributable to environmental risk factors in Mexico from 1990 to 2021. The results show that particulate matter pollution in the outdoor environment was responsible for the highest mortality and years of healthy life lost, followed by lead exposure and low temperature. Despite decreases in the last 32 years, particulate matter pollution in the outdoor environment remains a significant problem in Mexico. The need to strengthen air quality policies and lead exposure in the country is emphasized. [Extracted from the article] |

El artículo analiza la carga de enfermedad atribuible a los factores de riesgo ambientales en México en el período 1990-2021. Los resultados muestran que la contaminación por material particulado en el ambiente exterior fue responsable de la mayor mortalidad y años de vida saludable perdidos, seguida de la exposición a plomo y la temperatura baja. A pesar de las disminuciones en los últimos 32 años, la contaminación por material particulado en el ambiente exterior sigue siendo un problema importante en México. Se destaca la necesidad de fortalecer las políticas de calidad del aire y exposición a plomo en el país. [Extracted from the article] |
