Abstract: |
Thus, although it may be promising and possible to enrich gardens in Mediterranean type ecosystems by many useful species, past experience should teach us to be extremely careful in our efforts in this matter. While introduced species could contribute much charm to the quality of life in our environment, and ease environmental management and its costs, they require a period of careful and very critical assessment under controlled conditions. Take note of the story of Robert Devine (1998) and Bright (1998) and the story of America's battle with non native plants! Eradication is always costly and seldom perfect. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR] |
