Abstract: The article presents a study on degenerative cranial cruciate ligament (CCL) rupture in canines. Topics include the progression of chondroid metaplasia and the changes in the expression of extracellular matrix (ECM) components in canine CCL rupture (CCLR), the use of hematoxylin-eosin staining in the study, and how the increased expression of Sry-type HMG Box 9 (SOX9)-positive cells in canine CCLRs may contribute to the synthesis of cartilage matrix.
