Abstract: |
The American Cancer Society has launched a new population cohort study, VOICES of Black Women, to examine the impact of established health determinants (e.g., smoking, exercise) and novel areas of emerging research (e.g., neighborhood environment, social support, use of personal care products, racism and discrimination, generational wealth) on cancer risk and outcomes among Black women. By engaging 100,000 Black women across the United States, this study will increase representation in population‐based cohorts and increase our ability to thoroughly investigate race‐specific associations to ensure cancer risk messaging and prevention strategies are relevant and applicable to diverse populations.
