Abstract: A study on video-assisted thoracoscopic surgery (VATS) for pleural effusions found a high diagnostic yield and efficacy rate, confirming the safety and effectiveness of VATS in managing pleural effusions. Another study investigated the role of KCa3.1 in preventing saphenous vein graft stenosis following coronary artery bypass grafting. Additionally, research on adjuvant chemotherapy in octogenarians undergoing lung cancer resection and the development of a cardiopulmonary simulator for heart transplant training were highlighted. The introduction of endoscopic vein harvesting for coronary artery bypass grafting at the Bristol Heart Institute showed positive patient outcomes and satisfaction rates. Lastly, a study on postoperative stroke in cardiac surgery patients identified risk factors and mitigation strategies to reduce stroke incidence. [Extracted from the article]
