Abstract: This article discusses a case study of a 48-year-old woman who was admitted to the hospital with a pelvic tumor of uncertain nature. The physical examination revealed a mobile and hard tumor below the umbilicus. Imaging tests showed multiple cystic lesions throughout the abdomen, including the liver capsule, which were suspicious for a malignant teratoma. Laparoscopic surgery was performed, and the histology revealed a ruptured cystic teratoma with benign mesothelial proliferations. The article emphasizes the importance of considering mesothelial proliferation as a possible differential diagnosis in cases of diffuse peritoneal cystic lesions accompanied by a teratoma.
