Samenvating: Op basis van alleen het klinische beeld is appendicitis bij kinderen moeilijk te herkennen. Vaak laten huisartsen daarom het C-reactief proteïne (CRP) bepalen, ook al adviseert de NHG-Standaard dit niet te doen. Dit retrospectieve cohortonderzoek laat zien dat die bepaling in bepaalde gevallen toch zinvol kan zijn. De CRP-test kan een appendicitis niet uitsluiten, maar heeft wel toegevoegde waarde bij diagnostische onzekerheid. Als de klinische kans op appendicitis al heel groot of juist heel klein is, voegt de test weinig toe. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR] |
