Abstract: |
Background: Diabetes is fast gaining the status of a potential epidemic in India with more than 62 million diabetic individuals currently diagnosed with the disease. Diabetic peripheral neuropathy is a common complication of diabetes that can cause significant morbidity and mortality. Aims and Objectives: The aim of the study is to determine the prevalence of Diabetic Neuropathy in Urban population of Ahmednagar City. Material and Method: Study Design is a cross-sectional study in Ahmednagar City. Study Period is from October 2017 to March 2018. Convenient sampling was done. The patients were given a questionnaire which was to be self-administered followed by clinical examination done by the therapist. Results: The prevalence of diabetic neuropathy among diabetics was found to be 6.25% for pure neuropathy and is 42.70% for patients with only significant clinical examination. Higher prevalence was found in patients with hypertension, hyperlipidemia, chronic diabetic patients as well as obese subjects. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR] |
