Abstract: The authors discuss the problems associated with increased physician work during short primary care visits. These include the failure to address all health care issues and psychosocial determinants of health and the development of emotional exhaustion in physicians and fear of clinical errors. The consequences of such problems include decreased patient satisfaction and non-adherence to treatment plans. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
