Abstract: The article discusses a study conducted to know the function of the body coloration of Sinomicrurus japonicus boettgeri, Asian coral snakes of the genus Sinomicrurus, found in several islands of the Ryukyu Archipelago, Japan. It is noted that the coloration might be interpreted as both aposematic and cryptic. It is noted that the study found that the body coloration of S. japonicus boettgeri behave as crypsis through background matching.
