Abstract: Despite the political mobilisation of young people in protest politics in postcommunist Eastern Europe, the political representation of young people in legislatures is low. The article investigates how party youth wings contribute to such representation. Dimensions of party organisation such as degree of leadership autonomy, entropy and organisational entrenchment are better predictors of youth political representation by youth wings than formal political institutions designed to incentivise the political representation of under-represented groups. We generate our findings based on the cross-case comparison of the youth wings of the two dominant centre-left parties in Albania. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
