Abstract: |
The article discusses why splendid fairy-wrens Malurus splendens always accept cuckoo eggs. It describes the three optimality models and shows the relative payoffs from acceptance, desertion, and ejection strategies. The partial and total acceptance by rejecter host as stable strategies are discussed. It mentions the third equilibrium model which suggests that total acceptance by splendid fairy-wrens can be stable strategy if parasitism risk varies on the quality of breeding habitat. |
