Abstract: The authors comment on an article by Justin Clapp and colleagues which calls for a pragmatic turn in bioethics and outlines limitations imposed on the field by its historical, common-sense commitment to a representational ideology. Topics include the authors' endorsement of the authors' call for a pragmatic turn and the reason that genetic counselors (GCs) go through the dogma in the first place if comprehension was either limited or nonexistent.
