Abstract: |
The article discusses the importance of awake mapping and resection for temporoparietal fiber intersection zone gliomas. It highlights the use of fluorescence-guided resections with 5-ALA to enhance visualization of tumor boundaries and the necessity of functional mapping to prevent postoperative neurological deficits. The case study presented demonstrates the surgical technique used for a 31-year-old patient with a left temporoparietal glioma, emphasizing the preservation of critical white matter tracts in the temporoparietal region. The article underscores the significance of awake surgery with intraoperative mapping to ensure optimal outcomes for patients with tumors in eloquent regions. [Extracted from the article] |
