Abstract: |
The article comments on a study which investigated the relationship between drinking water disinfection by-products (DBP), particularly trihalomethanes (THM), and colorectal cancer. It attributes the classification of DBPs as group three or 2B, or possibly carcinogenic to humans, to the mismatch between epidemiological evidence on THMs as a class of DBPs and agent-based assessments by the World Health Organization International Agency for Research on Cancer. |
