Abstract: Perianal lesions in Crohn's disease present characteristic findings and are one of the ancillary findings in the diagnostic criteria for Crohn's disease. Diagnosis of perianal lesions involves a combination of patient history, physical examination, and imaging studies, with consultations with specialists as necessary. Common perianal lesions include fistulas and perianal abscesses. Fistulas caused by Crohn's disease are often complex and multiple, frequently requiring surgical treatments such as seton drainage. Pharmacotherapy (immunomodulators and biologics) is used to alleviate symptoms and prevent recurrence after controlling local infections through surgery. As a new treatment, darvadstrocel was approved in Japan in 2021 for complex fistulas that are insufficiently responsive to existing treatments. Perianal lesions in Crohn's disease are refractory and significantly impair quality of life, making proper diagnosis and treatment crucial. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
