Abstract: Tomato is one of the important vegetables. Soil-borne diseases become a significant constraint of tomato production, and grafting technology is the best alternative to mitigate the diseases. However, rootstocks for grafting are not always compatible. This study was conducted to determine the compatibility of Solanum torvum with tomato scion on grafting technology. This study was conducted in the BPP Pare Experimental Garden of Kediri Regency. The materials were used varieties of Cervo, Karina, Timoty and Solanum torvum. This experiment used a randomized block design consisting of 12 treatments and three replications, so there were 12 x 3=36 plots. Each experimental plot consisted of 40 plants. The initial study was carried out by planting Solanum torvum as rootstock and ready to be grafted at 35 DAT. In comparison, EG203 and line of EG203 at 21 DAT were ready to be transplanted on scion tomatoes of Karina, Cervo and Timoty varieties, ready at 15 DAT. Variable observations were carried out by observing the sample plants in each experimental unit consisting of % grafting success, plant dry weight, canopy area and yield. The results showed that Solanum torvum is a rootstock that has a high success rate as a tomato rootstock. High vegetative growth caused its production to be slightly below the Gelatik and EG203 lines as rootstocks. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
