Abstract: |
Our study was carried out on 62 dry femurs, on which we described the main anatomical landmarks and compared them right/left and with the data found in the literature. The height of the proximal epiphysis of the right femur had a mean value of 85.0 mm and that of the left femur of 89.80 mm. The vertical diameter of the femoral head was found to be 62.0-85.0 mm in the right femur and 58.0-87.0 mm in the left femur. The horizontal diameter of the femoral head was found to be between 77.0-103.0 mm at the right femur and between 68.0-102.0 mm at the left femur. The circumference of the femoral head ranged from 132.0-160.0 mm at the right femur and 125.0-163.0 mm (mean 143.10 mm) at the left femur. The femoral head fossa in the right femur was most frequently oval in shape with a large horizontal axis in 66.67% of cases and rounded in 33.33% of cases. In the left femur, the fossa was most often oval with a large horizontal axis in 63.64% of cases, and in the remaining 9.09% of cases it was rounded, heart-shaped and oval with a large axis oriented supero-inferiorly and antero-posteriorly. The anterior aspect of the femoral neck was 22.0-33.0 mm in the right femur and 20.0-34.0 mm in the left femur (mean 24.30 mm). The posterior aspect of the femoral neck was 24.0-34.0 at the right femur and 23.0-42.0 at the left femur. The height of the anatomical neck in the middle portion of the right femur was between 31.0-43.0 mm and in the left femur between 30.0-50.0 mm. The thickness of the anatomical neck in the middle portion of the anatomical neck was between 22.20-28.10 mm in the right femur and between 20.80-30.90 mm in the left femur. The angle of inclination was found to be 115-144o in the right femur and 116-150o in the left femur. The greater trochanter is quadrilateral on the lateral aspect, ranging from 40.0-51.0 mm in the right femur and 39.0-50.0 mm in the left femur. Its width in the right femur is between 35,0-50,0 mm and in the left femur between 28,0-52,0 mm. Trochanteric fossa in the right femur, 41.0% of the cases had an oval shape with a large horizontal axis, while in the left femur, the trochanteric fossa was 33.33% oval with a large vertical axis and rounded. The small trochanter in the right femur was oval with a large vertical axis in 66.67% of cases and in the left femur in 45.45% of cases. The intertrochanteric line was 25.0-50.0 mm in the right femur and 22.0-50.0 mm in the left femur. The intertrochanteric crest in the right femur was 20.0-110.0 mm long and in the left femur 18.0-100.0 mm long. The neck of the right femur was 91.0-110.0 mm in circumference and 76.0-115.0 mm in the left femur. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR] |
