Abstract: The article reports on a Belgian study to analyze the effects of parental visitation arrangements, parental presence, and parent-child relationships on the psychological state of children in institutional care and foster families. Based on the results, the quality of birth parents-child relationship has significant effect on children's psychological state. Also cited is the foster care policy of the Belgian government.
