Abstract: There was a significant reduction in SP 15 sp N-labeled muscle NO SB 3 sb SP - sp from pre- to post-exercise which has the important implication that the nitrate that accumulated in skeletal muscle following the dietary nitrate supplementation was utilized during the exercise bout. 15N-labeled dietary nitrate supplementation increases human skeletal muscle nitrate concentration and improves muscle torque production The biochemical background and physiological mechanism behind the fascinating effects of dietary nitrate supplementation is that nitric oxide (NO) can be formed nonenzymatically in the nitrate-nitrite-nitric oxide pathway via nitrite reduction.
