Abstract (English): Studies in Colombia depict a downward trend in the use of alcohol and tobacco; however, the beginning of their consumption in childhood multiplies the risk of dependence other diseases and injuries. Therefore, obtaining evidence about factors that reduce the likelihood of alcohol and cigarette consumption is the basis of evidence-based prevention. Hence, the association between alcohol and cigarette consumption with risk perception and normative influence was estimated through a cross-sectional study in a sample of 4,071 adolescent students between 12 and 18 years old, linked to a prevention program. The results of the study showed that there is a significant association between the perception of risk and the normative influence, with the intention of consumption of alcohol and cigarettes and the consumption of cigarettes in the last month. This association was not confirmed by multivariate analysis in all subgroups of adolescents. In any case, these factors must be integrated into a broader analytical context to achieve better preventive interventions. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
[ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
