In this article, the author reflects on role of homeostatic marker serum chloride in patients with chronic heart failure. Topics discussed association of hypochloraemia with hypokalaemia, role of serum chloride in identifying patients with cardiorenal dysfunction and higher diuretic requirements and ineffectiveness of serum chloride to work as a therapeutic target in heart failure. |
