Abstract: This article discusses a randomized controlled trial comparing the effectiveness of cervical pessary and vaginal progesterone in preventing preterm birth in multiples with a short cervix. The study was conducted in the Netherlands and included asymptomatic individuals with a multiple pregnancy and a mid-gestation cervical length of less than 38mm. The primary outcome was a composite of adverse perinatal outcomes, and the secondary outcomes included rates of preterm birth at various gestational ages. The study found that neither the pessary nor the progesterone treatment resulted in statistically significant differences in the prevention of adverse perinatal outcomes. [Extracted from the article]
