Abstract: | This article discusses the relevance of epicardial adipose tissue (EAT) in cardiology and its contribution to cardiovascular risk. It highlights the emerging field of research on the browning phenotype of EAT, which is characterized by specific gene expressions that enhance thermogenic properties. The integration of radiomics with artificial intelligence deep-learning approaches has revealed a variable shift toward the browning phenotype within EAT, improving the prediction of adverse cardiovascular events. The article also explores the differentiation of immune cell populations in different EAT phenotypes, specifically focusing on the role of innate lymphoid cells (ILCs) in promoting thermogenic activity in brown adipocytes.
