Abstract: On the other hand, trials evaluating systemic therapies have predominantly involved patients with extra-hepatic disease, leading to systemic therapy being the primary strategy for this population. Molecular pathology focuses on the study and interpretation of molecular and genetic changes in tissues and cells to aid in the diagnosis, pathogenesis, prognosis, and treatment of diseases. Most locoregional HCC trials have been conducted in patients without extra-hepatic disease, making locoregional therapies a primary choice for those with limited disease burden. By tailoring treatments to individual patients based on their unique molecular profile, molecular therapeutics maximise treatment efficacy while minimising the risk of treatment resistance and side effects.
