Abstract: B This article refers to 'Impact of left ventricular ejection fraction phenotypes on healthcare resource utilization in hospitalized heart failure: a secondary analysis of REPORT-HF' by D. Farmakis I et al i ., published in this issue on pages 818-828. b Heart failure (HF) is a worldwide health issue altering patients' quality of life, with recurrent hospitalizations, and reduced life expectancy. Clinical phenotypes and outcome of patients hospitalized for acute heart failure: The ESC Heart Failure Long-Term Registry. Nonetheless, assessment of LVEF is still needed in the context of HF hospitalization for predicting post-discharge HF rehospitalization and death (cardiovascular and all-cause) as well as implementation of chronic HF medication.
